Cough Cough

The winter weather has drained my immune system .... for the first time this winter i am now stuck with a cold... coughing. My throat is sooo dry and I have sores in my mouth from so much Vitamin c .. orange juice! I want my mommy!!! Don't we all miss our mom's when we are sick.. ? i know i do!
my husband is very good at taking care of me don't get me wrong .. he's a great doctor! LOL ... but i do miss my mom's chicken noodle soup and crackers and her taking my temperature and rubbin me with vicks vapour rub...
{ miss you mom ! }

Other than that, tonight was our 1 Hour Sketch CHallenge at Paws On Scrapbooking.. it was a great sketch by one of my fav... " little book of sketches" .. see blinkie on the side!

This is the layout i completed of my niece Gillian called " Just Be You"

Other than that, it's raining and our driveway is a sheet of ice! I won't be going anywhere far if all driveways are icey... I HATE ICE!! Scares me like crazy!
I am officially on vacation for 11 days.. and I hope to feel better to go up to Northern New Brunswick ( aka North Pole) to visit my family. I hope to maybe go to the USA to visit a Scrap store or 2 if my sister will bring me.. maybe Bath and Body Works..mmm yummy! and of course take tons of pictures of my nieces... I am really stuck on pictures lately and well, it's time for some fresh shots! Since my photo class with Kathy I am eager to take a few pics. I even took pictures of boiling hot dogs yesterday!
I will have to post those soon..I haven't downloaded my recent pics yet..maybe tomorrow!

that's all for tonight...

What a Weekend!

What a busy weekend! It was awesome!!!!
Friday was the Paws On Scrapbooking Cyber Crop. We had a great turn out with about 35 active scrappers. Tons of challenges and prizes i haven't finalized yet but will shortly!
I was lucky enough to complete 2 layouts

1 was tanya's Everyday challenge... since I love ice cream and could eat it everyday... a layout would be perfect!
Ice Cream - any flavour [ anytime ]

Another challenge was to use GrungeBoard. I had done a bit of playing around with heat embossing on this grungeboard a few weeks ago, and this was a good challenge to use it!
I also played with the new ROSE MOKA papers. A Canadian Based company and wow.. i must say these papers ROCK!

That was my Friday night, as steve enjoyed some time watching tv and working till 10pm.
Saturday -- I had a headache and didnt do anything . I even went to bed early ... that's hard to believe on a Sat night. Usually I can scrapbook till about 1am.
I didn't sleep well either cause I was too excited about Kathy Thompson's photography workshop on Sunday !

Sunday morning was fantastic! Kathy Thompson... came to QUispamsis to give us a few tips and tricks on Photography and Photoshop! I am sooooooo happy i got to take this workshop! I can say that i am confident to take photos on Manual mode and not AUTO mode !! WOOHOOOO!!!!
I can decifer ISO's and also take pics with somewhat of a blurrred background. I have a lens on my BIRTHDAY wishlist!!!!
thank you Kathy for making this such a fabulous day and really looking forward to working with you again!!!
If you have a chance to take her photo workshops.... DO IT!! well worth it!
I do need some practice with Photoshop .. but i can edit to Black and White, add some vignette, and play with colors! That's a bonus!!!
I will post a few pictures a bit later for you!

A Mayonnaise Jar

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls . He then asked the students again if the jar wasf ull. They agreed it was.The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions--and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.The sand is everything else--the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you."Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse or your very best friend out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first--the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

Feeling Icky!

It's Monday morning, a sick day for me today. I got what I think was food poisoning yesterday. It was pretty nasty in the bathroom... My husband was laying in bed relaxing and heard me...and jumped out of bed! He thought i was dying or something! Not good. Today is better, just eating toast and crackers and some pudding. I feel soooo dizzy and tired. I hope it passes soon. I really want to get back to normal!!!

I do have a layout to post, it was done on Thursday night i think... I don't remember it's been so long! LOL!!! but it was done using the new Basic Grey Two Scoops collection. It is a picture of my niece Sabrina.

They are announcing a snow storm here in Southern New Brunswick. Not sure when it's going to start snowing ... but we are suppose to get 20cm and blowing snow. Should be a beautiful sight!

Chow for Now!

Photography with Kathy Thompson

What: Photography for Scrapbookers

When: Sunday, January 27, 2008
Meenans Cove Beach House 9-12; 1-4

Part A – Morning session 9AM – 12PM $50 pp

In this session we will start with the basics and work our way up. We will touch on the parts of the camera, types of cameras, types of lenses and which ones you need to get the shots you want, your camera modes (image and creative), and our focus will be on light and that all important triangle: Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO – how they work together and how you can capture the shots you want.
You will be taking your camera off of automatic and working in the creative modes!
We’ll talk about good photo composition, framing your shots, portable, inexpensive backdrops, white balance and we will close with the digital workflow – what to do with all those pictures you’ve taken, including both short and long term storage.
The aim of the morning session is for you to leave better informed, more confident as a photographer and excited about taking pictures!

Part B – Afternoon Session 1PM – 4PM $50pp or $90pp for both sessions

This session is going to be about Adobe Photoshop Elements! Although you may not do a lot of post processing with your images now, the more into photography you get, the more you will come to realize that post processing, even just a little bit, can make a great photograph exceptional and a good photograph great!
We will learn how to get a true black and white conversion (not just grayscale! – a personal pet peeve), we will make our colours pop, sharpen up our photos a bit, we will learn how to “vignette” our photos which is so popular right now (it’s the ‘burned edges’ look) and just for fun we will learn how to use some basic digital elements with our photos – frames, distressed edges, etc.

If time allows we will do a Q&A at the end of the day discussing anything and everything and possibly a bit more advanced photography.
Obviously a laptop with Adobe Photoshop Elements is a must for this session; 2 people can share a laptop no problem.

Both sessions include a presentation on CD and a handout for you to take home.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post here, email Kathy at kathompson@rogers.com or email me at Kristine@PawsOnScrapbooking.com
To register you can click here >> http://www.pawsonscrapbooking.com/store/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=19

Super Saturday!

Oh my goodness.. what a busy couple of days!
It was out big BLOW OUT Sale today at Paws On Scrapbooking .... and wowzers we were busy!
Friday night a friend of mine and amazing scrapper Cindy and I started pricing online ... we were up till 2am! I got home and could not sleep ...my brain was in overdrive! Thanks Cindy for all your help!

Saturday morning - i was up at about 730am with little sleep and got ready to go to paws to get some orders ready! In less than 12 hours .. we had over 150 orders or so...... BONKERS! Thank you all the ladies who spent there hard earned money with us .... now we can shop for more new scrap products. Our shelves are now bare, our paper racks empty and woohooo it was fun!
Once and a while you just need to clean up the store and sell sell sell... then start from scratch and buy some new products!
I got home tonight at about 5pm ish... and had a few things to do on the website and now it's midnight! I am ready for bed... a long couple of days. Tomorrow I hope to scrapbook and relax with my honey....

oh.. before i forget . I went out to the store at about 930pm .. and when i got to our driveway .... 6 deer were just standing around having a conversation ( HEE HEE!!) yes, just standing there ... looking around. I couldn't back in our driveway cause i might have hit one, but i drove right in and of course they ran off in the back yard... but where was my camera! They are so precious.. even if they eat our perennials!

that's all i have to report today!
Hope all is well

Baby it's Cold Outside!

Oh my goodness... someone please turn the heaters on! It's freezing tonight. It's about -30C degrees outside with the windchill. I think no matter how high we turn the heaters on, it's still chilly in this house! brrrr.

I did no scrappin today, it was a day i shared with my honey since he took the afternoon off. It was nice to sit and watch tv and just relax. We did recycling today -- about 3 huge bins of plastic, paper, cans and cardboard. In Scrapbooking we waste tons of packaging and paper so I feel that it's important to recycle what I can and save a little piece of earth, And Steve is persistent!!

I watched the Secret today! I can't read a book if i tried, i have a busy head and can't concentrate on books. I am a visual person so I had to watch the video. It was really interesting and I liked the message.... " keep it positive and it will be positive" ... so we are trying this No Negative energy thing... see how long that last !! LOL!!! hahaha can you hear me laughing.. ? but yes, keep it positive! I did get my camera! Out of no where...so yes I do believe!

on that note, time for bed and some warm blankets.. brrrrr !

Winter Wonderland!

I Went to bed last night at about 1130pm and woke up this morning at 630am with about 25cm of snow outside!!!! YUCK!
Old Man Winter is certainly making an appearance giving us a Winter Wonderland!

I went out this morning at 630am to take pictures... imagine that! I guess I need to read the manual on our new camera cause it wouldn't take far away pictures due to lighting .... Auto Focus that is... but I did manage to go out later and take pictures after Steve got home.... It was really nice and white !
Time to turn the heaters on and stay warm tonight!

Something to give you a little inspiration - We have a 1 hour sketch challenge on the Paws Bulletin Board tonight.. come on over!

I finished my class project last night --- this is for my class on January 21st at Paws... A Recipe Book. It has folders inside so you can put your recipes and 2 binder rings that will allow you to put more papers!
Kind of cute, I like it... and it's filled with some of my favorite recipes right now! Come Join me on Monday Jan 21st to create your own ... or you can always get a class kit! Email me for more info.
that's it for now!
