Gesso Alpha Background | My Creative Scrapbook

I will be the first to admit that creating tutorials scares me. Seriously, i find it terrifying LOL! i 'm not sure why -- maybe you'll try what i tried and go.. what was she thinking !!  but today, i'm sharing something i just recently tried and maybe you'll enjoy it ;-)

First I used the Thickers  from the My Creative Scrapbook Main Kit, a piece of cardstock, gesso, paint brush, water brush and  gelatos.

Step 1 :
Place your thickers in a random order or create your own message on a piece of
cardstock. Take an old brush and add gesso to your alphas.
Let it dry overnight.

Step 2:
The next day take out some gelatos or watercolor paints and add them to your page. Rub on different colors to your alphas - as much or as little as you like,

I added a few selected colors to match the pattern paper i was using

 - Blue, Red and Green. I didn't add a lot of color, i just wanted a hint of it.

Step 3:
After letting it dry for a few minutes
- the colors showed up nicely on my background

Step 4:
I added some messy sewing on my page and
started adding some papers and embellishments.

Overall it was a great first trial to my { Gesso Alpha Background } Something i'll probably try again to use up some of those thickers!

Hope you enjoyed this today and looking forward to seeing your projects ;-)

Beautiful You | Simple Stories

Romantic photos of hubby and i are usually taken as a Selfie right before we go get groceries or do some errands - our wedding pics are tucked away in a box somewhere in the house  ... so when this romantic collection called Story of Us came out for Simple Stories I was a bit nervous. What in the world am i going to scrapbook with this beautiful collection?. Well it turns out that you can use this collection for those awesome black and white photos of your nieces!!!

Here is a layout i finished over the weekend called " Beautiful You". This is a picture of my niece who is just beyond gorgeous.

I also used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe - the Preppy Plaid background - I love this for a background, i'll be using this again for sure ;-))

Do you see some shimmer on my page? that shinny color? Well yes, i used the new Therm-O-Web spray called Glitter Dust! I'm really enjoying the effect it has on some papers and embellishments.

Thanks for dropping by today!

Happy Halloween | Simple Stories

It's no secret, I love Halloween paper collections. One of my favorites ;-) I'm not sure if this the colors, the ghosts and goblins.. i just find it so easy to create pages and this little mini album. I used the latest Simple Stories collection - Frankie & Friends, tons of diecuts and pop dots and some Therm-O-Web Glitter Dust <<< AWESOME STUFF!

My mini album is quite easy to create and was inspired by Leanne Allinson's mini album posted on the Jillibean Blog yesterday.

You can see on this next photo the Glitter Dust sprinkles on my diecuts and papers. It's a bit sticky but not excessive, and dries in a matter of minutes and no real smell. LOVE THIS STUFF!!

There you have it! How cute is that? Love those little diecuts and bright colors.

This wasn't part of a design team project but more of a fun mini album for me to enjoy and use up some of my Frankie & Friends Products.

I Want Candy | Simple Stories

It's not Halloween but it's a great time to get some new Halloween papers!
Simple Stories has a great collection called Frankie & Friends. It's so cute!  Last night I decided to create a page using my " spooky" Hulk photo. It was taken in June at Madame Tussauds. It's not scary or anything related to Halloween but I still wanted to create that " spooky" effect!! LOL.. I mean wouldn't you be scared if the HULK was after you ?!

Life Documented September 2012 | Simple Stories

In my previous Simple Stories - Life Documented posts I shared with you that I would document 2012 and I'm happy to say I'm right on schedule! As for 2014 that's another story. Today, I'm sharing the month of September 2012.

The first page of this spread is a simple one. I added a picture of our home with the glow of the sunset. We have really beautiful sunsets here and it's something i want to remember.
I used quite a few of the 3x4 cards from the Elements page. It was easy to use by simply cutting up the entire sheet and using the cards for journaling or filler cards.

We constantly have deer in our yard. This day in September was special because i  was walking down to our basement and this face was literally staring at me!
I also added a currently page to document a few things that i never took pictures of.

Layering Bits & Pieces is something I love to do on my spreads. Adding one on top of the other and maybe adding a brad is a great little added touch without the bulk.

I added a little tag from the Bits and Pieces pack and cut out from the 2x2 4x4 Element sheet a few elements such as So Very Grateful and the maple leaf.

We were in Ottawa and i thought this was a great way to add that Canadian Symbol!

I used a 4x3 picture on my top card. I cut it in half, added some elements and created a little mini layout that fit in my 4x6 pocket.

The bottom card I used tons of little stickers from the Combo Sticker Sheet and added a brad, enamel dots and a piece of chipboard to finish off. I love that I could use up some stickers and it makes a cute card!

For my Life Documented 2012 album I am using the 6x8 Sn@p! Leather Album in black. The sturdiness, metal corner accents, and stitch details are fantastic features to this album but I really like the fact that it's timeless and because they are so well built will endure the  many years to come.
I used two varieties of inserts for this monthly spread - in the 6x8" size featuring 3x4" and 3x4"/ 4x6. The Sn@p pocket pages come in a variety that you can add to your album. PERFECT for any project!
I hope you enjoyed my LIFE DOCUMENTED post today !
