Hello Wood Plank | Jillibean Soup

I'm sharing a project using Jillibean Soup Oval Wood Plank Sign with Felt Flowers.  This sign would be an easy project to create for a house warming gift, teachers gift and even for your front door!

Let's get started shall we? I have a complete list of supplies required at the bottom of this post.  Any questions please feel free to comment or contact me directly!

This is a sign I created for my blank kitchen wall! It really needed something with color and this wood plank was perfect. It measures 12" high and about 8" wide.

The First step in creating this sign is to get your supplies ready. I first started by cutting out a few things with my Silhouette Cameo. I cut out the word Hello ( #175558 ) a few leaves ( #159025) and some small vines (#196579). All of these can be found in the Jillibean Soup Section in the Silhouette Online Store.
I enjoy adding dimensions to my projects but I didn't want to add popdots to this sign. I cut out 6 hello words and then did the same for the leaves. I stacked them on top of each other to create a thick cut word. I glued between all layers and that made them sturdy, bendable, and so much nicer on a finished project.

Here are my files all cut out -

Here is a closer look at my word Hello - nice and clean ! It takes a bit of time to glue all these pieces, but it worth it. I just find it finishes nicely.

After my words were cut I had to decide on the color of my felt flowers. I wanted yellow for sure and yes turquoise is a must but wasn't sure on the light yellow or grey.
I also wanted more yellow but only had one flower from the package. I had a light bulb moment! Let's take this yellow flower and make more!

I deconstructed the dark yellow flower by removing a few strands of the felt. It's already cut to create a flower it just needs to be glued again. I created another just by removing 2 rows of the felt.  I still had a large yellow flowers and I removed another layer to create a smaller one that you'll see in the finished project. So just because you only have 1 flower doesn't mean you can't compromise!

Time to get my flowers organised.  I could have added more but I didn't want this to be too busy. I wanted something that showcased that beautiful yellow and turquoise so this cluster was perfect for me.

Once the flowers were glued with a glue gun - although the adhesive that comes on the back of these flowers are really sticky!  I added my leaves, the small pieces of vine, and of course my hello.

To add a few extra details I added some wood dots and I some glossy accent to make "water droplets!"

I really had a great time making this sign and it hangs nicely in my kitchen! It took me about 2 hours to finish but I was slow!

Tic Toc | Jillibean Soup

I really love these new Mix the Media pieces from Jillibean Soup. Although I'll admit that I am terrified to use them and mess them up! I used the 8x8 Wood Plank and some Martha Stewart Acrylic Paint and created a clock. I was going to put numbers but decided I liked this plain look instead. It's blue turquoise IRL and I have it hanging in my Scraproom.

Playing with Gelatos | Scraptures GDT

Good Morning Readers!

It's my final post for Scraptures today. Thank you so much Christa for inviting me to play with your kit this month !!

I have a canvas to share with you today! It was created using only Gelatos

At first I gathered my scraptures Kit - a canvas, some water, modge podge. I layed out all my supplies and wasn't really sure what i was going to do. At first I was going to do some sort of a mixed media canvas with flowered " built in " to my canvas. But that sadly didn't work out well !!

I started coloring my canvas with the gelatos - then i submerged my paint brush in water and started spreading my paint arround. just playing and spreading it.

This was actually the fun part for me. I loved spreading paint around and it was so easy with these awesome gelatos!

Once i finished painting i added flowers with mod podge. I really didn't like this and was not comfortable painting them with gelatos. So, i started to slowly peel them off and all of a sudden the top layer of my canvas came apart! Yup, i had peeled the first layered and the flowers left a small print on the canvas. So i decided to paint those prints!

Thanks for reading today!
If you have a few gelatos in your stash why not give them a try!
The supplies used in this project were supplied by Scraptures.

Getting my Hands Dirty

Good Morning!

The past week i've been enjoying the Mixed Media aspect of Creativity and certainly getting my hands dirty! Our kitchen table has been taken over by paints, paint brushes and a few canvas'.

This is a girl i created with a little of me in mind. She has darker hair but her body pretty much looks like mine.. short and " Big Boned!". I love the colors Yellow, Blues and Greens lately and wanted to use up some of my Studio Calico papers. So this little lady was created... Sized 10x10" Titled Imagine ...

This is another set of 2 I created. These are Mugs / or Coffee Cups. I wanted something brown and thought of maybe putting these up somewhere in my kitchen area.
these measure8x8" and not titled..

That's where my creative juices have been for the past week or so.I hope you had an enjoyable New Years Day.. Hubby and I were lazy in our jammies all day! It was fabulous ;-)

Talk Soon!

Paints and a Canvas or Two

Hello Readers,

So much has been going on the past few weeks that I feel my brain is about to explode! Christmas was blah for me this year... i was in bed early and off to work! Although I did manage to get a few squeezes from my nieces and nephew and certainly enjoyed the cuddles. Kids grow up so fast !!

Work has been nothing but challenging. The Christmas travellers and winter weather conditions have taken a toll on so many travellers. Answering the phone with an irate customer on the end .... 60+ times per day really gets to be annoying. It is my job and I always try to do the best I can but sometimes I just want to SCREAM!!!!!

I am looking forward to some days off after January 1st   ;-D

So with all this stress and negative energy in the office, I have been enjoying some messy Creative time when I get home. Playing with paper wasn't doing anything for me,,,, so I decided to get the paints and canvas' off the shelves!

I know hobbies help release stress but I must say nothing feels better then comfy pants, hair tied, sticky fingers, painted table clothes, and a messy shirt!!!
I created 3 canvas' this past week and I can't wait to go home tonight and create more!!!

I hope you had an enjoyable holiday season and take a minute for yourself to make a mess!!
Hugs!!

She Art Canvas x 2

Hello Blog Readers!

I've been busy the past few days getting my Craft On! We purchased a new dining rooLinkm table 2 nights ago and I haven't left my chair!! Seriously. I've created 2 canvas and a layout and for me that's huge!

I was inspired by Christy's CHA Video creating a She Art Canvas ...
CliCK Here to Watch it at Scraptime.ca ---

Ep. 733 – Christy Tomlinson shows us her process for Making her Art!

Once I saw this video I immediately grabbed my Pink Paislee She Art goodies and created!

This first canvas (measuring 10x10) took me about 2 hours or less. I loved it! I loved the rubons, the diecuts, and wowie i made a mess but sooooo liberating!

I was so inspired I want to create a set of 4 canvas' to display in my scrap room. Stay Tuned for more next week!

The next day I wanted to make more .... I just loved my first one so i wanted to try another style, and other papers.... wasn't so giddyup on the thought of creating my own but it turned out ok. I used this funky embossed paper and it didn;t settle well on Modge Podge, but i love the My Little Shoebox papers I used ( Thanks to ZoZo!)

This canvas is 11x14 - a bit larger, I tried to create some form of grass and sky ... um ya that didn't work so well but it still turned out ok. These are really so much fun.. if you haven't tried this yet ---- you should!

Want some ideas on how to create She Girls or Mixed Media canvas' .. visit Christy's Blog for more info and check out her demos! Love that she does videos to showcase her techniques and products ;-)

Thanks for dropping by!

My First She Art

Well, i've been taking Christy Tomlinson's online She Art Class for the past month or more and just last week I sat down to complete my first "She Art". I started and re-started this canvas about 4 times. I had a hard time with my background... but finally I finished. It was fun... really messy but very ... rewarding maybe. It was awesome to use up some ink, paint, rubons, and so much more... i can't wait to start my next one ;-)

If you've been thinking about taking this class..... GO FOR IT! Even if you don't know what you're doing or scared to start... the lessons Christy teaches are amazing... you'll have a fabulous time!
I'll be taking her next online class.. She Had Three Hearts... can't wait ;-)

Small Moments

I created another painting yesterday! I am hooked. These are just too much fun and messy. Speaking of messy thank goodness these paints are toxic free... Eddie ( the Cat ) thought it was ok to climb on my scrap table and put his paw into BLUE paint yesterday!!! yup... i had blue cat prints ALL over my table... he didn't seem to mind ;-)

this is another painting similar to the first, since I am making them as a collection of 3 - Same flowers, and colors that match ..

thanks to Donna Downey for the inspiration !
