A Tragic Fire...

On December 17th 2009, a large fire occurred in my hometown of Grand Falls New Brunswick.
4 large buildings were damaged in this fire and burnt to the ground.
A few of these buildings were part of our own family heritage - owned by one Ronnie Kertson in the early 1900's. It's unbelievable the damage that was caused and we are so thankful that noone was killed or injured.

Here is a short video of what the buildings looked like before the after, and showing pics of after the fire.

Unreal isn't it?
A Pool Hall which was once a Theatre owned by my Great Great Grandfather -
A furniture store, businesses, a  hair dresser's salon, and a day care for 30 children. .. it was at 9pm at night- so noone was around but the people of the apartments on top of all these buildings.

It will be a shock when i got home to visit -- and such a sad story for those that loss their businesses and homes in this tragic fire.

  2. Thank you Kristine for posting this ,I too grew up in Grand Falls and I remember my dad talking about Kertson's and went to the theater often as a kid when it was owned by the Theriault family.
It will be strange for sure to visit my hometown without those builing there!!
